GENERAL INFORMATION


What is Slay the Lake?
Slay the Lake is an LGBTQ+ horror book festival celebrating queer voices in horror, thriller, and dark fiction.

Who is the festival for?
Everyone! This event is 18+. Slay the Lake is open to readers, writers, horror fans, and anyone who supports diverse voices in literature.

FREE ADMISSION
Admission is free from 3 PM-8 PM.

TICKETED EARLY ENTRY

Ticketed early entry is $15+ tax and includes early entry from 2PM-3PM, a special event tote bag, one blind date with a book and other goodies. Get your early entry tickets here.


Are children allowed?
Unfortunately not. This event is 18+.


AUTHORS & PROGRAMMING


Which authors will be attending?
See our website for a full list of authors and vendors. Updates & changes will be announced on the site and social media.


Will there be book signings?
Yes. Attending authors will be available to sign and sell their books.


Will there be panels or readings?
No. This is a signing only event.

Small lot at venue. Neighborhood street parking.


VENDORS & COMMUNITY


Will there be vendors?
Yes. Alongside books, we’ll feature horror-themed art, merch, and indie creators.


How can I apply to be a vendor?
Vendor applications for Kenosha 2026 are currently closed, we are full for this event. You may fill out the form here if you’d like us to contact you about future events.


Where do proceeds go?
We are collecting book donations for LGBT Books to Prisoners onsite. See their requested titles & restrictions here.


OTHER DETAILS


Can I cosplay?
Yes. Horror, goth and queer glam looks are encouraged. Props must be weapon-free.


Will there be food or drinks?
